Linking the Law

In 2017 the Legal Services Commission developed Linking the Law – a project to build the capacity of migrant community leaders to connect their members to appropriate legal assistance.

By working with the Australian Refugee Association, and with funding from the Law Foundation of South Australia, the Legal Services Commission was able to recruit and train 34 leaders from 14 new migrant communities to become Community Legal Guides.  A Community Legal Guide helps new migrant community members identify common legal issues and access legal help.

A short video was produced to document the development of the project and report on its outcomes.
