Legal Services welcomes the funding announcement (26/11/25) from the Commonwealth Government to establish a Sexual Assault Legal Services pilot program in South Australia.
Legal Services CEO, Annmarie Lumsden, said Sexual and gender-based violence continues to cause serious harm in our communities.
“This funding is another important step toward breaking down barriers to justice and strengthening the support available for victims and survivors as they navigate the legal system,” Ms Lumsden said.
“Through this program, our aim will be to empower victims and survivors to be guided by their own goals in their recovery journey, supported by expert legal advice, assistance navigating the justice system, and integrated wrap-around services such as financial assistance, counselling, and specialist support.”
While accessible to all, the service will specifically focus on young women under 25, a group identified as having the highest levels of unmet need for support.
“We look forward to working with our partners and the community to make this initiative a success,” she said.
