Legal Services appoints new Director, Civil Law

 

Legal Services has appointed Jodeen Carney as its new Director, Civil Law.

With over 35 years of experience in law and legal policy, broader policy and public sector leadership roles, Jodeen brings expertise and a strong commitment to improving access to justice to Legal Services.

Most recently, she served as Commissioner for Equal Employment Opportunity (SA), where she led initiatives to promote workplaces free from discrimination, bullying and harassment, and contributed to sector-wide efforts to address respectful behaviour in the legal profession.

Jodeen has held senior roles including Chief of Staff to a former Deputy Premier and SA Attorney-General, and Chief Executive of the Northern Territory Department of Children and Families, where she led large, multidisciplinary teams and significant reform work.

Her leadership is characterised by collaboration, integrity and a strong focus on improving outcomes for clients, the profession and the broader community.

Legal Services CEO Annmarie Lumsden said as an experienced and forward‑thinking leader, Jodeen brings a passion for innovation in service delivery, team culture and continuous improvement.
