25 November 2025
The United Nations 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence begins on 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) and ends on 10 December (International Human Rights Day). This year’s theme – there is #NoExcuse for online abuse – aims to raise awareness of the harm of online harassment, abuse and control, and promote safe digital spaces for all women and girls.
While Legal Services recognises the importance of remembrance days and other dedicated awareness campaigns, we echo expert calls for sustained action. Governments, NGOs, and the wider community must work year-round to address the pervasive issue of gender-based, domestic and family violence.
Legal Services offers a range of services and programs that aim to address legal and social support needs for those experiencing domestic violence.
We can provide free general legal advice where domestic violence is a factor via our Legal Helpline on 1300 366 424.
We produce a number of resources and publications including factsheets on Applying for an intervention order and Legal responses to abuse via technology.
We offer specialised legal assistance and representation for women affected by domestic and family violence in relation to intervention orders and tenancy matters through our Women’s Domestic Violence Court Assistance Service (WDVCAS).
Our Health Justice Partnerships recognise that legal issues rarely occur in isolation and integrate our legal services with health and wellbeing service providers.
Wrap-around legal and social support is also provided to women who have experienced domestic violence in northern SA via our Domestic Violence Unit.
We continue to deliver legal education programs on coercive control in the community, including culturally appropriate sessions with Aboriginal communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Join us on Thursday 27 November at the West Torrens Library Auditorium when we join Women’s Safety Services SA and Yarrow Place for a Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Community Information Session and Q&A.
Can’t attend but want to learn more? Call 1300 366 424 to find out if we can help you or someone you know.
