Child Protection Guidelines

Guideline 1. Parents or caregivers

A grant of aid may be available to–

  1. a parent of a child or young person the subject of child protection proceedings under the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 (the Act) in relation to any proceeding (including an appeal) under the Act, or
  2. anyone joined in a proceeding (including an appeal) under the Act.

A grant of aid may be available to a person seeking to be joined in a proceeding under the Act.

Guideline 2. Child or young person

A grant of aid is available to a child or young person the subject of child protection proceedings under the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017. The Means and Merit Tests do not apply.

A grant of aid may be available to a child or young person to appeal an order in a child protection matter. The Means Test does not apply.
