Domestic Violence

The Legal Services Commission SA has a range of services and programs, both stand-alone and integrated, that are targeted at addressing legal and other social support needs arising from domestic violence. These services include:

  • General legal advice where domestic violence is a factor, or representation on grants of aid for family law and migration matters accessed through our Legal Helpline on 1300 366 424, see Domestic Violence Advice
  • Advice and representation relating to intervention orders and tenancy matters through our Women’s Domestic Violence Court Assistance Service
  • Integrated services, including advice, representation and social support services across a wide range of areas through our Domestic Violence Unit in the northern regions of South Australia
  • Integrated domestic violence legal services (including advice and representation across a wide range of areas) through further Health Justice Partnerships with:
    • Women’s and Children’s Hospital
    • Lyell McEwin Hospital
    • Women’s Safety Services, and
    • Relationships Australia SA
  • Once-off advice and representation at the Federal Circuit and Family Court through the Family Advocacy and Support Service
  • Funding for advice and representation relating to cross-examination in family law court matters where a ban applies – this is known as the Family Violence Cross-Examination of Parties Scheme
