Free legal help for people in Adelaide’s west

People in Adelaide’s west now have greater access to free legal help.

Attorney-General Kyam Maher has officially opened the new Port Adelaide office of the Legal Services Commission.

The new office is at 263 St Vincent Street, and that main street shop-front location will help to boost the delivery of:

  • free legal advice & information about a wide range of common legal problems
  • legal assistance for victims of domestic violence
  • assistance with family law, criminal law & civil law issues.

Legal Services CEO Gabrielle Canny says: “Our Port Adelaide office provides a variety of services including life-changing legal help for vulnerable individuals and their families.

“This new office is in a key location and that will enhance the delivery of our services and our efforts to provide greater access to justice for people in the western suburbs.

“The office is opposite the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court and that proximity enables us to increase the help we provide at that court - especially to people who do not have legal representation.”

Helping everyday people with everyday legal problems

Our Port Adelaide office helps people with a wide range of common legal problems – including issues relating to traffic matters, tree and fencing disputes, landlord and tenant problems, wills, consumer rights and more.

“The help that Legal Services provides makes a significant difference to individuals with everyday legal problems,” says Mr Maher.

“Legal Services delivers around 140,000 legal assistance services to the SA community each year and a vital part of that is the help it provides for people in Adelaide’s western suburbs.

“I know this new office will assist the delivery of those future services and I am honoured to officially open it.”
